Islandwood art escape

August 12-16, 2020

Welcome to Bellissima's 2020 IslandWood Art Escape located on a beautiful 250-acre wooded site on Bainbridge Island, just a 35 minute ferry ride west of Seattle. Thoughtfully designed to teach young students about the environment, this will be our home to create art that will be inspired by the beauty that surrounds us and by the incredibly talented twelve instructors who will be teaching. This will be enhanced by IslandWood's naturalists, support and amazing culinary staffs.

You may find yourself walking quietly along the paths to discover what awaits you around the bend in this densely wooded site.

When we first visited this beautiful site, we knew from the architecture, the landscape, and the sole purpose of creating this gorgeous space, that this is the perfect venue for an Art Escape. We can’t wait to share it with you. It’s a wonderful space to create life long friendships.

IslandWood was founded in 2000 as an environmental learning center to improve access to meaningful, nature-based learning experience for the region’s children. Children and adults alike discover a new way of seeing nature, themselves, and one another when they visit this educational center. In doing so, each person comes to understand their ability to change the world for the better. Its mission is to provide exceptional learning experiences and to inspire lifelong environmental and community stewardship.

Islandwood’s goals —

Shifting perspectives.

Unlocking lifelong curiosity.

Inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards

These ideals mirror Bellissima Art Escapes’ values and desire to protect our environment. This is why we are partnering with IslandWood to provide this extraordinary, memorable experience. Nature and art. A winning combination.

No outside food or beverages may be brought into IslandWood.

There will be Non-Hosted Cash bars available in the evenings.

IslandWood is a non-smoking environment. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas of the parking lot. Though Washington state allows the sale of marijuana, it is not permitted at IslandWood.

Our dream

We know that this venue will open up your hearts and your minds to what we can do together as artists and stewards of this fragile planet. Like IslandWood, we hope that you will see what can be accomplished when like minded people come together to create an environment in which to learn. To be able to do this in such a beautiful setting makes our heart full.

Our dream is that you will meet many fellow artists that will become your support system long after you leave IslandWood and that you will leave this Art Escape invigorated and ready to expand not only your art practice but also your appreciation for nature and how you, too, can move forward as an environmental steward.
